5 Pattern’s

·         DEFINITION - a word or phrase that shows how one idea is related to another idea. Time orders also putting your ideas in the order which they happened. When you are writting about past event you need to use time order . you begin with the first thing that happened, then tell the second thing that happened, and then third thing.

You need time order so that your reader can understand when something happened. If you tell a story without time order, you will confuse your reader.

·         PLACEMENT - Time-order transitions are usually placed at the beginning of a sentence followed by a comma. (Then is NOT followed by a comma).

·         EXAMPLES

·         EXAMPLE PARAGRAPH

         Last year I took a week trip to Banjarmasin with my mom and my aunts. We were stayed for 5 days. I saw many historical places and beautiful scenery  in the journey.Midnight came, we were arrived at 00.30 pm, we took a rest for a night cause we were so tired. In the morning, we start our trip. The first place that we have visited is siring.Then, we ate in pasar terapung. It was a wonderful experience to ate on the boat or local inhabitant called it´”jukung”.

Definisi Of The Paragraph

         Paragraph is a collection of sentences that are interconnected between one sentence with another sentence. Paragraph is also referred to as a brief essay, because in this form the author poured his idea or mind so as to form a topic or theme of conversation. In 1 paragraph there are several sentence forms, the sentences are the sentence identifier, the main sentence (topic sentence), the explanatory sentence, and the closing sentence. These sentences are strung together into one unity that can form an idea. The short length of a paragraph can be a determinant of how many of the key ideas of a paragraph can be expressed. there are inductive and deductive paragraphs.

Example of paragraph

           From Cilongok District to Cipendok waterfall we can enjoy the beautiful scenery. The number of trees in the tropical forest is very pampering the eyes coupled with the cool air is very calming. Arrive at the waterfall area, we can see the flowing waterfall flowing. Underneath there is a river flow that the water is very clear, the visitors are seen enjoying the natural attractions.            My hometown and my college town have several things in common. First, both are small rural communities. For example, my hometown, Gridlock, has a population of only about 10,000 people. Similarly, my college town, Subnormal, consists of about 11,000 local residents. This population swells to 15,000 people when the college students are attending classes. A second way in which these two towns are similar is that they are both located in rural areas. Gridlock is surrounded by many acres of farmland which is devoted mainly to growing corn and soybeans. In the same way, Subnormal lies in the center of farmland which is used to raise hogs and cattle.

·         Transition that signal differences

Even tough Arizona and Rhode Island are both state of the US, they are strikingly different in many ways. For example, the physical size of each state is different. Arizona is large, having an area of 114,000 squaremiles, whereas Rhode Island is only about a tenth size, having an area of only 1,214 square miles.

Cause and effect

            Paragrafh are a paragrafh that uses a general-pattern(inductive) pattern that has the main idea at the end of the paragrafh. Couse and effect paragrafh use a causative relationship between special and general facts located at the beginning and end of a sentence. Special facts as causes at the beginning of a sentence then end with a general fact at the end of a sentence.

Example:

           Every day deska always study hard. At school he always noticed his teacher who was giving lessons. He is also actively involvet in the discussion of the subject matter in the form of his teacher. At home she did not have much time to relax before all her homework was done. After her homework finished she immediately helped her mother work in home. After that he again repeated the lessons that have been tought in school. While at school during break time he took the opportunity to visit the library. He also did not hesitate to ask his teacher about the materials he studied. Deska is very serious in learning. His persistence in learning is fruiful. On the day of the division of report cards, he was ranked and the overall champion of the school with indigo above average 9.

Simple Listing

         Items are randomly listed in a series of supporting facts or details.  These supporting elements are of equal value, and the order in which they are presented is of no importance.  Changing the order of the items does not change the meaning of the paragraph.

The language of listing paragraphs

Using listing language helps the reader understand the train of your thoughts and see how the ideas connect. it can also help you write more accurately: if you use this language, you are much less likely to go wrong.

 Example : think of it like a grocery list, it doesn’t matter what order you get it in, as long as you get all the items simple list should always be your last choice.
